Carbo will be appearing on behalf of The Tolland Fund, a 501c3 in Connecticut that "supports the right of all persons with disabilities to participate in sport and recreations to the best of their abilities, making them fully integrated members of their chosen community."
Carbo, who hit the game-tying home run in game six of the 1975 World Series while playing for the Red Sox, played 12 years in the big leagues with Cincinnati (1969-1972), St. Louis (1972-73, 1979-1980), the Red Sox (1974-1978), Milwaukee (1976), Cleveland (1978) and Pittsburgh (1980).
The Tigers will also host "Bark in the Park" on Sunday, with the first 250 fans who bring their dogs to the game receiving free dog bowls sponsored by Ocean State Veterinary Specialists.
Sunday also marks another "Sunday Funday," with all fans in attendance getting an opportunity to have a catch on the field after the game, sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods. If the Tigers win this Sunday, everyone who has a catch on the field will receive a coupon from Dick's Sporting Goods. All kids 12 and under can run the bases after the game, sponsored by Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. The participants will also receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone at Ben and Jerry's located inside Mohegan Sun.
The Tigers head to Troy, N.Y. to begin a two-game series with the Tri-City ValleyCats on Monday night. The Tigers will send RHP Edgar De La Rosa (2-1, 2.61 ERA) to the mound against LHP Joe Bircher (0-1, 2.66 ERA) for the ValleyCats.
